[HCRA] Board of Director Minutes

HCRA Members
 
During the August 20th Board of Directors meeting your board made a decision
to move the reporting of the monthly minutes from the printed version of
Zero Beat to the HCRA web site. The moving of the minutes to the web arose
from a discussion about how to keep the cost of Zero Beat under control for
the coming HCRA fiscal year.
 
The board's reasoning was as follows:
 
1. We could use the space (approximately one to two pages per month) for
articles without adding pages to the publication.
2. Most of our active members have web access so viewing the minutes would
be quick and easy.
3. We didn't feel there would be any significant downside to the decision.
 
Based on this reasoning the decision was made to move the minutes starting
with the June 2008 board meeting to the HCRA web site. The June and August
minutes were posted on the web prior to the September 2008 meeting.
 
Unfortunately sometimes good decisions are made but poorly executed. We
failed to publish the move in either Zero Beat or on the mailing list. This
was an oversight on our part. There was also no provision made for our
regular members without web access. Both of these need to be addressed.
 
This message will be posted on the HCRA mailing list and published in the
November Zero Beat. There is a note on the web site helping members locate
the minutes. At the October meeting the members present will be polled and
asked to indicate their preference for publication of the minutes. We will
also solicit at the meeting any suggestions for distribution to our members
without web access.
 
Your board consists of eight hard working and dedicated people. We try to
make decisions that will benefit our members, grow our club and increase the
exposure of our hobby in the Pioneer Valley. Comments and suggestions are
always welcome from our members.
