[HCRA] Special Event QSL's?

Wow,

I picked up the mail this afternoon and there were a few QSL's in the box.
One for me (1w) and the other to WB1Z. No prob, probably from the GOTA
station at Field Day. Funny thing though, the card was from Finland and I
didn't remember any DX contacts in the GOTA log.

So I open up the envelope and you know what? The card was for the Basketball
Hall of Fame event in 2001. Sure enough, the station was identified as
WB1HOF. We retired that call and changed to WB1Z a few years back. I have
most of the WB1HOF logs in varying formats and wouldn't you know it, OH3MKH
was in the log. I even had a few WB1HOF cards left over from 2001 so I
filled one out and off it goes in tomorrow's mail.

I thought this was interesting enough to mention to the club, especially
since we are embarking on at least two special event stations this year. It
shows a couple of things. One, people really like to collect the QSL's and
two, even after seven years you still need to have logs and QSL's available!

That being said I think it is important for HCRA to consolidate the logs at
one point so there is always a record for incoming QSL's. As of now I
'think' I have done that with most W1NY and WB1Z operations as well as the
WB1HOF logs (but I'm not sure I have them all). As a club we probably should
designate someone to handle the logging/QSL archiving and maybe even keep a
backup copy with the secretary.

In order to increase the excitement and QSL requests it would be good if
this year's special events leaders (KB1JVF & KB1NWH) could get me some
sample QSL's for posting on the website. If you have the card designed I can
print them out here and save you the effort as well. If you haven't
completed the design yet maybe some of our more 'graphically skilled'
members will volunteer for the job?

Anyway I thought most folks would be interested in the LDQ (Long Delayed
QSL) from Finland.

Our special events calendar is at: http://www.hcra.org/calendar.htm for
those that are interested. I know Jim or Ed would welcome any additional
help you can provide!
