Message-ID: <009301c95a81$37f90f00$05000100 at mainlaptop>
Hello to all....
..Two Storm Systems Will Impact the region. One late tonight through
Wednesday Night and a second system Thursday into early Friday. The first
storm system will bring heavy rain and strong winds. The second and more
formidable system could bring a significant ice storm to the interior
with
strong winds, heavy rain and the potential for coastal flooding along
south
and east facing casts..
..A Wind Advisory is in effect from Midnight tonight through 1 PM
Wednesday
for Northeast Connecticut, North-Central Rhode Island and Central and
Eastern Massachusetts away from the South Coast of Massachusetts and
Rhode
Island..
..A Wind Advisory is in effect from Midnight tonight through 10 PM
Wednesday
for South Coastal Massachusetts and South-Central Rhode Island including
Cape Cod and the Islands..
..A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Thursday Morning through late
Thursday Night for Southern New Hampshire and Franklin, Hampshire,
Western
Hampden, Northern Worcester and Northern Middlesex Counties of
Massachusetts
for the potential of significant icing..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will occur across the Wind Advisory areas
Wednesday for strong winds/wind damage as needed with the possibility for
Ops at NWS Taunton if winds are stronger than expected. SKYWARN
Activation
with Ops at NWS Taunton is possible Thursday for the potential of
significant icing in the Winter Storm Watch area as well as the potential
for strong winds/wind damage, coastal flooding and heavy rainfall outside
of
the Winter Storm Watch area particularly in Eastern New England..
Two storm systems will be affecting the region over the next 2-3 days
with
varying threats from these systems. The first system that will be
discussed
is the one coming through late Tuesday Night through Wednesday Night.
The storm system from late Tuesday Night into Wednesday will produce
heavy
rain showers and the potential for strong winds across portions of the
region. A Wind Advisory is in effect from Midnight tonight through 1 PM
Wednesday for Northeast Connecticut to North-Central Rhode Island and
Central and Eastern Massachusetts away from the South coast of
Massachusetts
and Rhode Island and a Wind Advisory is in effect for South-Central Rhode
Island and South Coastal Massachusetts through 10 PM Wednesday Evening.
In
these areas, sustained winds of 25-35 MPH with wind gusts of 45-55 MPH
are
possible. Blue Hill at 1046 PM had a gust to 51 MPH and a 47 MPH wind
gust
was recorded at 9 PM in Milford, Massachusetts. Similar wind conditions
could affect much of the advisory area on Wednesday through 1 PM in the
interior with conditions lasting a prolonged period of time over
South-Central Rhode Island and South Coastal Massachusetts including Cape
Cod and the Islands where strong winds could last through late Wednesday
Evening. This will be the main impact of the first storm system.
A second storm system will affect the region for Thursday through
Thursday
Night. This storm has the potential to be a significant ice storm across
Southern New Hampshire and much of Western Massachusetts north and west
of a
Worcester/Springfield line where a Winter Storm Watch is in effect from
Thursday through Thursday Night. Other areas just to the south and east
of
the Winter Storm Watch area may also experience significant icing. This
event could also produce coastal flooding at the time of high tide along
south and east facing beaches, strong winds and wind damage across
coastal
areas and the threat for heavy rainfall and urban/poor drainage flooding
across portions of Eastern New England. More information on this threat
will
be posted either Wednesday Morning or Evening depending on new data that
becomes available.
SKYWARN Self-Activation will occur across the Wind Advisory areas
Wednesday
for strong winds/wind damage as needed with the possibility for Ops at
NWS
Taunton if winds are stronger than expected. SKYWARN Activation with Ops
at
NWS Taunton is possible Thursday for the potential of significant icing
in
the Winter Storm Watch area as well as the potential for strong
winds/wind
damage, coastal flooding and heavy rainfall outside of the Winter Storm
Watch area particularly in Eastern New England. Another coordination
message
could be posted on Wednesday morning to update the wind threat for
Wednesday
but the information for the potential Thursday storm may not change much
in
that message. If another coordination message is not required for the
Wednesday storm due to no significant changes in the Wednesday wind
threat
and no significant updates are noted for the Thursday storm, the next
coordination message will occur on Wednesday Evening for Thursday storm.
