Are you ready????   It is almost time for the 10 meter contest - -

I have just purchased the certificates for the "Ten Meter Contest" and
hope that we will hear many of you participating in this club
activity.   The official times (local) are 7:00 pm Friday night
December 12th,  to 6:59 pm Sunday night December 14th.   Maximum operating time is 36 hours.

Certificates are going to be presented to anyone who submits their log
to the ARRL with the Hampden County Radio Assoc listed as the ARRL affiliated club.
The categories will be for 5 (bronze), 25 (silver), 50 (gold), and 100
(platinum) contacts (not points) with a special endorsement for just one cw
contact - (but feel free to make more if you would like.)

I will be working slow cw on Saturday between 9am - 10am,
and  1pm - 2pm on 28.275.  +/- QRM (28.250 - 28.300)  On
Sunday it will be between 10:00 am & 11:00 am, on the same
frequencies.    This will be a great place to make your
first contest cw  contact if you wish -  At other times I could be
anywhere on the low end (28.000 - 28.200).

Rules and a tutorial can be found on our web pages, and there will be
plenty of folks willing to help submit your logs after wards.
(It's real easy).  Paper logs (what I use) are available on the
ARRL's website and keeps everything neat.

I just checked the rules and it looks like our section will be western
Mass for this contest  (WMA in cw).    The required
exchange is the signal strength and section:

You're 5-9   Western Mass   thank you    k1jaw   (SSB)

ur  5-n-n   WMA    TU      k1jaw      (CW)

So if you are
like me, and do not particularly like contest but would like to try
something real casual, give this one a try.  You get to operate
from your home, earn your own score, and still help the club's
score.  What else could you ask for.... I hope that you can join
us for some fun and braggin rights!   73's
