Congratulation to Gent Lam, WA1CQF for his article in the May QST.
Everyone probably knows Gent from the incredible amplifiers he constructs
and with which he has won a few HCRA 'Show & Tell' competitions in the past.
Now you can get to view his writing skills as well.
The article, 'An Electronic Turns Counting Dial' is a nice piece detailing
how to accomplish an old time task with modern parts. Well written and with
good accompanying photos lets all hope WA1CQF will win the May article
award. If you are an ARRL member you can cast your vote at:
www.arr..org/members-only/qstvote.html.
Not an ARRL member? Then you have not only missed Gent's great article but
other interesting articles as well. But being an ARRL member gets you more
than a monthly magazine, you also become a part of the largest organization
representing our hobby. Why not take a look at http://www.arrl.org and see
if League membership is for you.
Don't forget a few things that are just around the corner:
1. May 2nd - HCRA meeting - Learn all about Dxlab software presented by
N1BAA
2. May 2nd and May 3rd - NEARfest - the biggest ham radio flea in the NE
(www.near-fest.com)
3. May 3rd and May 4th - NEQP - New England QSO Party. A great way to try HF
and have fun.
HCRA also has two club calls that are available for use during NEQP. Why not
think about getting W1NY or WB1Z on the air for the first weekend in May?
Your club also sponsors a beautiful plaque for 'High Score Western Mass'.
Wouldn't it be great for a HCRA member to win that award?
That's if for now, enjoy the nice weather and get some antennas planted
early this spring!
