Hi gang,
As everyone probably knows by now I have resigned my position from the HCRA
board effective with the October meeting. I have not kept track of the years
I have been on the board but it has been quite a few and it has been fun.
Unfortunately my new business is taking more of my time than expected. I
have to make my time available to my customers when they need me and don't
have as much flexibility with my schedule compared to when I was with
Rocky's. Combine that with my daughter needing help with home renovation and
having to spend more time with my mom and I really can't devote the time to
HCRA that the position deserves.
The remainder of 2007 does not need any speakers because of the auction and
the holiday party. I have sent Johnny information concerning possible
speakers for 2008, much of it thanks to Larry. I am still working with two
possible candidates and have volunteered to do one myself on SDR radio. I am
confident that Johnny will be able to do a better job than I and HCRA should
still be the place to go for interesting meetings.
I do caution the board to 'keep their eye on the ball' when making proposals
and decisions that affect the membership. HCRA has grown it's present
membership because it has never strayed away from what it is truly all about
- having fun with ham radio. Keeping that goal always in mind will insure a
continued influx of engaged and active members. If we (HCRA) are not active
or having fun with the hobby then we won't attract new members and will lose
current ones.
In closing I truly appreciate the opportunity to serve on the board of HCRA.
It has been both a fun ride and a life experience as well. I will still
continue as an active member and am always available as a resource for
whatever the club needs.
I will also keep the web page current if the board desires. I won't make the
'contacts' page change until after this week's board meeting.
I hope to see you all at the auction in November,
'73...
Jim, KK1W
