Hey gang,

May is here, the weather is great and there's lots of stuff happening in the
coming days and weeks.

First up, the latest issue of Zero Beat has been mailed and published on the
web. See the latest copy here: http://www.hcra.org/zerobeat/may07.pdf.
Another issue chock full of good stuff for our active members. I won't spoil
your reading of the issue but will touch on a few points below.

This Friday will be a fantastic meeting provided by Charlotte and Paul, KQ1X
and K1XM. Charlotte and Paul combine DXpeditions and underwater photography
and put on a stunning presentation. Be sure to come early to get a good
seat. See more about them at: http://www.underwater.org/radio/home.html

This Friday and Saturday is the return of the great New England Hamfest that
was 'Hosstraders'. Sadly Hosstraders is no more but has been replaced with
NEARfest and is back at the old Hosstrader location in Deerfield, NH. More
about this at: http://www.near-fest.com/. The weather is supposed to be
great, what a way to start out a new event. I hope to see lots of our
members up there this weekend.

And of course the 6th annual run of NEQP, the New England QSO Party. Will
you be the lucky winner of the HCRA sponsored (and great looking) plaque for
high score Hampden County? Will you or a group of our members want to
activate the club call - W1NY - for the contest. There is more about NEQP
at: http://www.neqp.org/. This is a fun contest and a great way to get some
experience on HF and work a LOT of states too. Look for WB1Z when you are
on. Dave, AA1YW and myself hope to be QRV from VT during the event.

That's it for now - see you Friday at the meeting,

Jim, KK1W
