Just a reminder that IRLP node 7270 in South Hadley is available for your use anytime. HCRA sponsors the node for use by any amatuers. It is a simplex node (not a repeater) on 146.46 Mhz with a 114.8 Hz tone. For more details, see:
http://www.hcra.org/irlp.htm
Please remember that you are required to identify when using the IRLP, even if just pushing buttons and not saying anything. FCC regulations require that you ID within ten minutes when you make ANY transmission, every ten minutes afterwards, and in your last transmission. The node's identification does not count as YOUR ID, since the node did not make your transmission. The node ID is to satisfy the requirement for its transmissions.
There have been incidences in the last few days where someone has been accessing the node, but "just pushing buttons." An example of proper procedure follows:
When first accessing,
"This is <your callsign>, accessing the IRLP node" Then push the buttons...
When completing access,
push 73, wait for the node to complete its link down message, then "This is <your callsign>, clear".
Please do use the node. It is there for you.
Thanx, and '73 de Kx1x
