Hi gang,

I don't know how many saw it but our club and our hobby received front page
coverage in the Republican this past Friday. Here's a link to the article:

With a great picture of our Treasurer (and CW op extraordinaire) Greg, N1AEH
and some quotes from our President Johnny, KI1A it is a great article. It
isn't everyday we get front page coverage on the Republican! Please take a
moment to follow the link above and read the article. It is both a good
article about the dropping of the code requirement as well as an opportunity
to get more people into the hobby and perhaps join HCRA as well.

Special thanks to Jim, KB1JVF who I believe was the driving force behind
getting this article started, as well as Greg for hosting the interview and
photographs and Johnny for his insightful remarks.

Note to Rick, N1RL. Does this qualify for inclusion in 'media hits' in QST?
How should we go about submitting it if needed.

This Friday's VE session had 23 candidates and near 100% pass rate. We are
right now experiencing a potential for growth in HF that we haven't seen in
many a year. Lets all do our best not only to encourage new folks into our
ranks but mentor the new crop of Technicians that just got their HF
privileges.

The HCRA 10 Meter net is every Monday at 7:30 PM local time on 28.375 MHz.
It is the perfect place to start with your first HF contact.

This coming weekend is the ARRL International DX contest. Stay tuned for
some pointers on how easy it will be to score your first DX on HF.
