Field Day update, May 29, 2006.

Hey gang, Field Day planning is in high gear and rolling down the road. As
of today we have enough operators and stations for a 6A, and we are striving
for 7A so everyone can get into the action. Just recently George, KC1V
signed on as 80/20 CW band captain.

What else has changed this year:

Richard, KB1NOX is getting the food under control and will be offering up
the menu real soon. Expect not only some of the same but some unique
culinary delights for your palate this year.

The GOTA station will be back again this year. Lucy, W1HOT and Luke, KB1ISP
will be helping new and/or inexperienced operators get on the air this year.
The L&L team may be working with some boy scouts this year too.

Just about everything else is remaining the same. Why mess with success?
Here's a brief, not all inclusive list:

The same beautiful place: Dufresne Park in Granby, MA.
The same antennas and towers.
Many of the same operators.
A public info booth and road signs by KB1JVF.
Alternative mode demonstrations, maybe even with ATV on an R/C helicopter.
An all band digital by N1NPC and his dad.
Logging provided by N3FJP software.
Antenna erection by AA1YW and his pneumatic launcher (with help from lots of
HCRA members).
UHF/VHF with Dennis - N1WCW and his wife Sue.

And the biggest thing that remains the same - FUN. An entire weekend of ham
radio activity to share with your fellow club members, friends, family and
interested bystanders. What more can you ask for?

WANTED:

FIELD DAY SATELLITE OPERATOR

Our regular satellite operator, Gary - AA1UE will not be able to make this
year's FD. We are looking for someone that would like to take a stab at it
this year. It's not hard and really doesn't require a boatload of equipment.
There was a good article in the June 2006 issue of QST showing how easy it
can be. Any volunteers?

HOUSING FOR THE 20/80 CW STATION

George is currently looking for housing for his station. He has a few leads
but if you know of a large tent, screen house or pop-up available give him a
call.

I hope you have set aside some time for Field Day this year. It makes no
difference if you spend all 24 hours on site, just stop by to share the
evening meal or make contact with us from home - it all adds to the fun.
Your participation is exactly what makes 'Field Day, the HCRA way' so much
fun!

See you there,

Jim
