Hi, Dan
I took a very similar photo in 2004, but that is not mine. The tuner
appears to be an MFJ-949E
<http://www.mfjenterprises.com/products.php?prodid=MFJ-949E>.
Pretty decent writeup in Wikipedia.

The other day I got an email from a ham in 5 land asking what tuner I
was
using in the field day photograph. Having no clue what he was talking
about
I asked him to send me the URL so could look and get back to him.
Well....here is the URL..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_Day
As you can see an fringe Moron Net member (I think I checked in once but
still failed to earn worked all Morons) is at the helm of the Solar
Powered
Station we run at W1NY in Granby, MA. How that of all pictures, of all
field
days, in all the places on Earth there are hams, was used I HAVE NO
IDEA.
Yet it's there and the question stands...What kinda tuner is it?
I think we have an MFJ tuner in that box and I think that year we had an
817
running into some kinda vertical Yaesu dummy load...er...hand tuned
verticle. When that failed it was put away in favor of either the GOTA
Dipole or Tri-Bander. This would apparently be 2 years ago. Any of my
Hamden
County fellow Morons know?
As for the VWS gang just thought you'd want to know what kinda
desperation
Wikipedia has for classifying honest and forthright information. HI HI.
Oh yeah and Field Day is only a couple months away and I will be down in
Virginia this year as I have commitments to handle on the 24th (which
means
I am only available Friday night for set-up and Sunday for a few hours
of
operating and takedown sadly). Next year I have to make an effort to op
at
W1NY again!
