   I only dabble in contests once in a while, but this past fall while
visiting at my son's house in NC, at odd times while the little grandson was
napping, I dabbled in the QRP-ARCI Holiday Spirits homebrew sprint.

    I only made 8 QSOs, all on 40, but apparently I picked up so many bonus
points for homebrew (KX-1 kit counted as homebrew tranceiver), battery
power, portable antenna (the zip cord I stapled to the rafters in my son's
attic) etc. that today in the snail mail I received a nice certificate - Top
Score Non-Member (11680 points)!
   Guess sometimes it doesn't take much to win a contest. But I seriously
doubt that I'll get my picture on the Wheaties box.
