Had the receiver on 28.023 from about 1800Z this afternoon, while I was
doing paperwork in the shack. I was hearing nothing but band noise,
even though I was seeing occasional spots on the cluster from
southeastern USA stations that were working 3Y0X on 10M CW.

Suddenly, at 1940Z a very strong signal popped up out of nowhere!

I worked him at 1944; he peaked around 1947Z, dropped just as suddenly
at 1956, and is just barely audible as I write this at 2002.

If you plug in solar flux of 76 and K=1 to W6EL's MiniProp with the
detection parameters I have set up, there's no sign of a 10-meter
opening of _any_ probability for here. But if you crank up the solar
flux slightly, to 83 or 84, bingo! There's a couple of hours with
probability "D". Guess today was one of those "D" days.

That completes 9 bands, 160 - 10, with these guys. Good ears down there!

Bud, W2RU (FN23nr -- central Adirondack Mountains in upper upstate NY.)
