Hi everyone and Happy New Year!

The latest edition of Zero Beat is on the web and in the mail. If you want
to see a full color, electronic copy instead of the dull and boring B&W USPS
version then point your browser to: http://www.hcra.org/zerobeat/jan07.pdf.
A great issue to start off a fantastic year. Be sure to check out the remote
radio control article by KI1A and the CW editorial by K1KAA.

The January meeting will feature John Ellsworth from the Vintage
Communications Museum in CT. John and his friend Gordy will be bringing a
collection of shortwave and ham transceivers. Gordon will concentrate his
part of the presentation on the history of the early receivers. John will
update the group on the latest in the saga of the museum moves. I'm sure
there will be something of interest for everyone.

Also, we mark a new era for ham radio in 2007. Very soon we will have a
no-code license in the USA. Whether or not you agree the decision has been
made. It is now our responsibility, as HCRA club members and ham radio
supporters, to understand the changes and welcome in a new group of HF radio
operators. These newcomers will be in need of a lot of guidance (elmering)
from groups like us so they can realize the full potential of their new
license. Our February meeting will be dedicated to reviewing all the recent
changes and opportunities of the new license structure. What do you think
you can do to help?

I hope everyone had a nice holiday and received some great ham radio gifts.
Relax, have some fun on Straight Key Night New Year's Eve and we look
forward to seeing everyone on January 5th.
