Hi everyone,

Field Day 2005, the HCRA way, will be held as scheduled at Dufresne Park on
June 24th to June 26th. The park is rented, the food is organized and the
equipment and antennas are ready. Come the last weekend of June there will
be many stations for anyone to operate, messages to send, food to eat - all
kinds of stuff that both the new and the old will enjoy.

All that is needed is your participation to make the last weekend on June a
time to remember. Your club has worked hard to create an event that allows
everyone to have fun. This is what your dues accomplish. The bulk of the
planning has been accomplished, we have all the necessary equipment all we
need is you to make it complete.

Take a look at the list on the website - it's pretty full and we are still
two weeks away. So what can you do - participate!

There will be a meeting Wednesday evening at Dufresne to review final
antenna and station location - any and all are welcome to attend. Set up
will start Friday, June 24th at 2:00 PM at the park. Set-up will continue
until 2:00 PM on Saturday, that's when the fun begins. The stations will go
on the air, demonstrating to the public how amateur radio can set up quickly
in time of emergency and make contact with the outside world.

All during this time there will be food, and lots of it. HCRA Field Day
could also be called the HCRA picnic - it has just worked out that way. Andy
(with Erik's help) will be cooking up a great menu, including spit roasted
beef for Saturday evening supper.

A GOTA (Get On The Air) station will be operating too. It's main purpose
will be to encourage new (or inexperienced) hams to get on the air, make
some contacts and have fun.

Bring along a friend or relative that is interested in radio. Because we are
operating under the club call of W1NY they can operate, even if they are not
licensed. What a great opportunity to show off the hobby.

In addition to the stations and the food there will be an information table
to introduce the public to amateur radio, demonstrations of alternative
modes of operations and did I mention the food? I did, didn't I. Well, the
food starts Saturday morning and continues right to the very end - so bring
your appetite.

It all comes to an end Sunday at 2:00 when we take it all down and start
planning for next year.

I'm' looking forward to seeing everyone at Field Day sometime over the
weekend. Stay tuned to this list and the web site for the latest
information.
