FOR IMMEDIATE AREAWIDE RELEASE

A 2-day 2-location Hamfest Weekend for persons interested in electronics,
computers and amateur radio will be held in Newington CT on Saturday June 12
at ARRL Headquarters, 225 Main Street and Sunday June 13 at  Newington High
School, 605 Willard Ave (CT Route 173). Admission is $6 and is good for both
days. 

Some lucky visitor will win a door prize of a $250 gift certificate. 

On Sunday A VP of  Information  Technology at a leading Internet company
Johnathan Taylor,  will conduct a forum on Echolink , a new computer-based
technology  which enables a home computer to communicate with ham and other
radio stations throughout the world. In private life Mr. Taylor K1RFD is a
radio ham and is the inventor of Echolink  (www.echolink.org), 

In Sunday's Electronic Flea Market starting at 8:30 AM, vendors and private
individuals from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York will
show electronics, computer and radio parts, boards, monitors, tools, vintage
radios and new and pre-owned radio transmitters, receivers and transmitters,
also antenna and antenna hardware. 

Also, as in past each years, weather permitting, there are dozens of outdoor
tailgate vendors with more of the above.  

Selling spaces are $15 in advance and $20 on Show Day. Tailgate spaces are
$10. 

Many additional hourly forums and discussion groups on Sunday will be hosted
by authorities such as QST Magazine Editor Steve Ford W8IMY, QST's
interference authority Edward Hare W1RFI, and ARRL's regulatory information
specialist John Hennessee N1KB and others. 

Saturday events will include tours of ARRL Headquarters, Operating the Hiram
Percy Maxim Memorial Radio Station W1AW and a 4-hour seminar on emergency
communications. (All Saturday events require pre-registration.)Sunday events
will include forums, an Electronic Flea Market and FCC Exams for amateur
radio licenses. 

The event is a combined project of two groups. One of them is NARL, a
technical, fraternal and public service club composed of Capitol Region
radio hams. The other is the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION for Amateur Radio.
