[HCRA] Tail Gate Party, Elections and FD

Hi everyone,

First, I would like to extend my thanks to everyone that showed up for our
4th annual Tail Gate party last Friday. I estimate we had at least 80 people
there during the height of the festivities. One commercial vendor and a few
of the regular flea vendors plus our members really made it a fun event. I'm
guessing we added over $200 to the club treasury from space sales and the
donations to the club table. A special thanks to Dave, KB1MU for organizing
and managing the event and to all that donated items to the club table.

Second, I think I can speak for the entire board when I thank you for your
vote of confidence in electing the new slate of officers for 2004/2005. With
three new members on the board this year we should really get some new
thinking. I know the board will work hard to make HCRA the best amateur
radio club in the area. But without you, the members, we wouldn't be able to
accomplish much. All the board does is focus your energy and ideas and
provide a base for everyone to have fun. Keep up the good work!

Third, the FD committee has formed a discussion group on yahoo. This is the
perfect group to join to keep up with all the day to day happenings with
Field Day. If you would like to join simply click:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hcra-fd/ and follow the instructions. I hope
each and everyone of you joins the group and is also able to participate at
the end of June. This is shaping up to be the best HCRA FD yet. We also have
three FD 2004 pins left. Drop me a note now and reserve yours, you can pick
it up at Field Day.

Fourth, raffle tickets are now on sale for the grand prize at the November
auction. You can purchase a $1 ticket that will give you the chance to win
an Icom IC703. The 703 is an HF QRP radio with built in tuner that is valued
at almost $600. Tickets are limited and going fast, see any board member or
purchase yours at FD.

As we go into the summer months remember to have fun with your hobby. The
September meeting is Friday, September 3rd. The speaker is yet to be
announced but the raffle prize will be an Alinco DJ596, dual band-5W HT.
