Steve and the rest,
Sometime last week, a guy from the electrical company stopped by in
regards to any interference. My first reaction was, what did I interfere
with this time??? As it turned out, he had seen the antennas and stopped in
to make sure THEY weren't causing any interference with me. Apparently, the
high noise floor on 28MHz wasn't just a faulty noise blanker, as it happens
I live between two gigantic RF pumping transformers that are pretty bad, I
guess.
Anyway, I took the chance to ask him about broadband over power
lines, and he told me that in order to do that, the amount of work necessary
would be almost impossible. There are so many lines with so much power -
and some with information - that the switch would take years. He didn't
sound too energetic about having to go up there and do the splicing and
hacking himself. I'm not sure what the installation of BPL entales (and I
hope to never find out), but the power company around here at least isn't
enthusiastic.
73' and Happy DX
