Hi everyone,
Hopefully everyone has enjoyed a great (if not very warm) summer. But summer
is winding down and Labor Day is just around the corner. That means the kids
are going back to school and what else?
Of course, the first HCRA meeting of the new season - that's what!
Join all us September 3rd for a great welcome back meeting. Here's what's is
store for you this coming Friday:
Special Guest Speaker
Dan Henderson, N1ND
Dan will bring us up to date on the ARRL Logbook of the World Program. This
great service from ARRL allows the tracking of contacts and receiving of
awards without the expense of traditional QSL cards. Learn all about the new
program, how many hams and QSO's are already in the database and how you can
easily use the new service.
Also on hand will be Tom Frenay, K1KI to bring us up to date on BPL, the
efforts to combat it and the latest on the test site in Feeding Hills, MA.
Tom may have another surprise in store for us too - be sure to be there.
As a special welcome back from the summer, an extra nice raffle prize will
be given away tonight. Enter the raffle and you could win an Alinco DJ-596
HT. This little jewel, a full featured dual band HT, could be yours for as
little as a $1 ticket! But you have to come to the meeting to participate!
Back in September (after a long hiatus) is the popular "Tech Corner" Our
Technical Director, John - Nn1JIO will be hosting "tech corner" before the
beginning of every general meeting. This month will feature a discussion on
IRLP and how to get the most our of this neat mode. Additional month's
subjects will be determined by you - what do you feel will be a good
subject?
This month's Zero Beat was a 100% mailing to all former members. The back of
the cover has an updated application. Please take the time to fill it out
and bring it along so we can sign you up for the 2004/2005 season. The
reason for the new application is to keep our address database accurate.
Many of us have changed email addresses, sometimes calls and mailing
addresses and this is the most efficient way to keep our records accurate.
Remember - renew by October 1st and get a chance to win a Yaseu VX-150R HT
absolutely free!
Thanks as always for your support of both Amateur Radio and HCRA. HCRA is
one of the strongest and most participative clubs in Western Massachusetts
because of your interest. I hope to see all our members this coming Friday
for a super "Welcome Back" meeting.
Jim, KK1W
