[HCRA] Fixing an antenna

Hi Eric,

Is the threads in the hole totally stripped out? Did you lose the
setscrew? It is hard to tell from the pictures because it out of
focus.

The only problem with soldering is that in order to solder, both
materials must be made of a metal that solder will flow onto. Brass for
instance. Even if both materials were made of brass, it would be
difficult to flow the connection without melting the plastic on the
coil.

If the setscrew was lost, you would have to find one that has the same
threads as the old one. Not too difficult to accomplish if you visit a
well stocked hardware store...Rockies Hardware...for instance. You
would have to determine if the threads are ANSI or Metric.

As a last resort, you could drill a new hole on the opposite side from
the existing one and tap it to accept another set screw. You would have
to be careful to use the correct drill for the tap that was used.

Let me know how you make out.

Peter
