Hams Needed to Tell the Story of Amateur Radio to 20,000 Connecticut
Children, Teachers and Parents
Amateur radio will again have a booth at the CPTV Family Science Expo in the
Connecticut Expo Center in Hartford April 3, 4, 5 and 6, 2003.
Last year the Amateur Radio Clubs and over 30 ham radio operators of
Connecticut told the story of amateur radio to about 20,000 children,
teachers and parents.
This year we will again be staffing a booth that features as a minimum:
The new ARRL six-minute video on amateur radio emergency communications.
Two hands-on audio/visual Morse code demonstrations
A voice pattern display with microphone and oscilloscope.
PSK 31 display showing the new digital modes
QSL cards from around the world for geography lessons.
Suggestions welcome for any other eye/ear catching displays., especially ham
TV, etc.
This is a joint venture of as many Connecticut clubs and amateurs as
possible. We will need about 30-40 volunteers to staff the booth in half-day
shifts Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 3-6. Set up will be
Wednesday evening April 2nd.
Volunteers should contact:
* Bob Stanwood, [email protected] 860-242-2784
* Dan Miller, [email protected] 860-206-3379
* Al Cohen, [email protected] 860-667-2864
Please indicate your day and shift (AM or PM) preference.
An ad hoc steering committee will meet on March 15th at Noon at ARRL
Headquarters, 225 Main Street, Newington to make arrangements. All are
welcome. Talk in on 145.450 W1AW repeater.
Hope to hear from you.. We sure can use your help.

PS> You are also invited to the NARL meeting of Monday March 3 at 7 PM at
the Senior Center in Newington where this will also be discussed.
PS> PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO ANY HAMS IN CT or MA that you think might enjoy
working in this worthy project.
