Hi gang,
Well, the first member's sale has ended and many members took advantage of
some nice ham equipment at great prices. The phones were ringing at Irv's
and we sold almost a dozen items in the first few days. As discussed, any
items not sold by the end of the week will be placed on ebay.
There are some additional items that will be offered, watch next month's
Zero Beat and get ready to dial that number!
The last session of the first HCRA Technician class ended this week. This
coming Monday is their exam session and we will have a new group of hams
entering our fun hobby. Most of them are also members of this list so if you
see some questions about getting on the air, let's do everything we can to
help them out! A special thanks to Peter for organizing and running what has
been a very effective course.
Field Day planning is well underway. Much of the information has been
updated and can be viewed by visiting the web site at:
http://www.hcra.org/field_day.htm. There's still a few positions open so get
in touch with the FD committee and sign up now if you're interested. Also,
if you have any suggestions for this year's Field Day, drop an email off to
any board or FD committee member. Now is the time to get all those good
suggestions on the list so we can implement them this year, not next!
This month's meeting topic is Field Day and our guest speakers are from the
high scoring N1FD club in New Hampshire. Raffle prizes this month will be
ARRL Field Day T-Shirts. This will also be a great opportunity to get your
name on the FD list if you haven't yet done so. See you there.
Elections for 2003/2004. As it stands today all present officers and board
members are willing to be on next year's slate. This doesn't mean they would
mind if someone else decided to run for the position. This board has done a
good job directing the HCRA over the last few years but some new blood would
not be a bad thing. If you've thought about running for a position on the
board, please get in touch. The HCRA will benefit from new board members and
new ideas and believe me - no one will be upset if you want their job! It's
a low pressure, fun task - you won't be sorry you volunteered!
As always, thanks for your participation and support of HCRA. As a club I
feel we have really helped get the word out about ham radio here in the
Pioneer Valley.
