[HCRA] Last nights meeting and FD 2003

Just a followup to Jim's note on last night's meeting.

For those of you who can't receive WBCQ Monday night because you don't have
HF in the shack or if propagation is poor, there is a streaming audio look
on the WBCQ website. Just go to www.wbcq.com and click on the listen live
text (it's right up front when you open the page). You may have to download
the 365Live plugin and the quality will depend upon your connection speed.

Personally, I am always gratified at the fine attendance at the meetings.
Your Board and others
work very hard at making these meetings as interesting and informative as we
can and when we see
so many members taking interest it makes the job a real pleasure. It's
always a plus to tell a prospective speaker that we see as many as 60 or
more people at our meetings. Last night, Jay and Paul remarked on the size
of the audience with amazement. And I know if the weather weren't so
tenuous, we may have seen even more than the 50 members and visitors who
attended. Last night's guests weren't the only ones who have made that
observation.

Still looking for speakers for next year, so if you have any suggestions,
please feel free to send them to me.

73 de Jim (the good looking one)

I would like to thank everyone who braved the weather last night and
ventured out to the meeting. Jay and Paul (the pocket calculator guys) put
on an informative presentation that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
Their assortment of 70's and 80's toys brought back lots of memories. Most
disturbing was the value of lots of this stuff, stuff that I tossed in the
trash years ago :>(

Don't forget to listen to their last radio show this season, Monday evening
April 7th at 6:00 PM on WBCQ - 7415 MHz on your shortwave radio dial. They
also have a website at: http://www.pocketcalculatorshow.com, check it out if
you get the chance. When you're on the site, why not drop them an email and
thank them for their presentation. Paul came up from Bridgeport and Jay
drove all the way from Bar Harbor, ME for last nights presentation. Let's
show them some HCRA gratitude. Thanks also to Jim, WB1Z for another
interesting meeting.

Next up is Field Day 2003. I've started the web page and an ad hoc FD
committee is listed on it. Now's the time to get our basic structure in
place before the next meeting. Please visit
http://www.hcra.org/field_day.htm, check it out and get back to either me or
John with what you would like to do this year. It will be fun and if we are
lucky there won't be any snow on the ground by then! And of course Field Day
is also the subject of next month's club meeting with the folks from N1FD
coming down from New Hampshire to show how they accomplish a 27A station.

As always thanks for your interest in the hobby and your participation in
HCRA. It's been a fun year so far and promises to only get better. Don't
forget about our annual elections, just around the corner in June. Think
it's time for a change? Then we are ready for you - toss out your name and
we'll get you on the slate!

'73 for now,

Jim, KK1W
