ZERO BEAT

No need to wait any longer. The December issue is on the web and can be
found at: http://www.hcra.org/zerobeat/dec02.pdf. John did his usual nice
job, I'm sure you will find it interesting.

HOLIDAY PARTY

The holiday party is just a week away and should be fun. Grab a guest, bring
your favorite dish and look forward to a fun evening. Enjoy a nice dinner
with your friends then relax with dessert while Steve and Rob put on their
presentation. The HCRA will again be supplying a good portion of the buffet,
including both hot and cold dishes this year.

HAM CLASSES

We are desperately in need of a location for the classes. The site we
thought we had turns out to be WAY too expensive. Peter has the curriculum
and instructors all lined up. Now we need a location. We need space for
about 15 - 30 people for about 8 to 10 evenings, preferably in an easy to
find location. If you have any thoughts, please drop a note to either me
mailto:[email protected] or Peter mailto:[email protected] with your ideas. Ham
classes are one of the most important things we can do to promote and expand
our hobby. With everyone's help I'm sure we can find a location.

ARRL 10 METER CONTEST

It's the weekend of December 14th & 15th. This is great contest; lots of DX
and stateside contacts, both phone and CW and a good opportunity to add to
your states/countries worked. And... it can be done as an HCRA event. All
you need do is work the contest, then turn in your log to ARRL with HCRA as
your club affiliation. Pretty easy, work from the comfort of your won shack,
get credit for your individual effort and your score adds to the HCRA total
also. If this sounds like fun please drop either me mailto:[email protected] or
John mailto:[email protected] a note, we'd be happy to help you out with contest
advice, logging software, etc. More info about the contest can be found at:
http://www.arrl.org/contests/rules/2002/10-meters.html.

IRLP

The node is running great and many of the reflectors have become 'super
reflectors' with up to ten rooms for unique groups of contacts. If you
haven't been using it lately, there's lots more to explore. Tune in 146.46
and have a ball.

That's it for now, I'll see you all at the party,

Jim, KK1W
