Hey gang!

Looks like HCRA might score close to 1,000,000 points as a club. Not bad for
the first crack at the 10M contest. What's important now is everyone gets
their log in before the deadline.

A reminder about submitting your log electronically. You need to send a
Cabrillo file to the ARRL. If you have used any recent logging software it
should have the option to "export to Cabrillo". After you export the log it
should be on your hard drive with the name [yourcall].log. You can open it
with either Notepad or WordPad and check to see if the header information is
OK. Most important is the class and club affiliation. Check out the arrl
website for the correct class designation, but your program probably filled
it out correctly. The club should be entered as: Hampden County Radio Assn
There should not be a period at the end of Assn. I don't think it is case
sensitive however.

When you're satisfied the Cabrillo file is correct, simply email it as an
attachment to: mailto:[email protected]. In the subject field enter your
callsign. Leave the body of the message blank. You should get a response
from the ARRL with either a confirmation number or a warning about what was
incorrect with the log. Make the corrections if needed with Notepad, resave
the file and send it again. You can send it as many times as you like until
you get it correct. If you have further questions visit:

Now for the good news. Things worked out pretty well at the KK1W "Super
Station". Ann was not too concerned about the time I spent in the shack and
propagation was decent. I spent about 19 hours working the contest, split
pretty evenly between phone and CW. My only goal was to exceed last years
score (179K). Well, you gotta love that CW, the way the contest rules are
set up you get to "double dip" the sections. That plus twice the points for
CW and it really helps out with the score.

Results:

CW QSO's = 285
SSB QSO's = 359
                 ----
Total QSO's = 644

Total Sections = 196

Score: 365,736 points

I'm happy, but I'm not looking forward to beating that again next year!

Don't forget to send in those logs, and also forward your score to me so I
can get them posted on the web page.
