The sunspot group that gave us those 2 large X-class flares a couple
weeks ago is about to come around to the front of the sun again. It
produced some flares while it was on the far side of the sun. Estimates
are that at least one was a low X-class flare. The last couple days the
X-ray background flux has just about doubled (A7 to B1, logarithmic
scale). It is perhaps a couple days from being visible. We can hope
that it will bring some more excitement. The solar flux has gone from
~72 to 78 today in the same time period. The current sunspot group is
stable, it has one large spot and doesn't appear to be going to generate
any significant activity. So, be sure to keep track of the bands next week.
