Hello all...
Wednesday evening is the spring Frequency Measuring Test.
Here are the operating times and approximate frequencies.
Please note that the FMT begins at 0000Z Thursday APR 6th,
which is 7PM CDT Wednesday APR 5th, tomorrow evening!
April 6, 20m, 14121 kHz
0000Z: W6OQI, 0130Z: W6OQI
April 6, 40m, 7064 kHz
0215Z: K5CM, 0221Z: W8RKO
April 6, 80m, 3598 kHz
0240Z: K5CM, 0246Z: W8RKO
After you make your measurements, you may submit them at:
http://www.b4h.net/fmt/
go to the DATA ENTRY page and fill out your information.
Please note that the first set of measurements will at 000Z
and 0130Z from W6OQI in California. W6OQI will transmit
on the same frequency for the two sessions, so you would
enter only ONE measurement.
Also PLEASE NOTE that you will enter the frequency in
HERTZ. So... if the signal were exactly on 14MHz, you would
submit 14000000.0 Notice, no commas and no spaces.
For those of you trying this for the first time, find the test
signal in CW mode, then change your mode to either LSB
or USB, at this point you will tune for ZERO BEAT... i.e.
tune the receiver so the that the tone reaches zero. You
may have to make an approximation where the zero point
is! The frequency reading on your receiver would be the
frequency that you would submit.
Now... suppose your receiver display shows 14,121.1 for
the first session... so your submission might be
14121100.0Hz
Your submission for 20 meters, should have 8 numbers
before the decimal point. Your submission for 40 and
80 meters should have 7 numbers before the decimal
point.
If you would like to talk about the FMT at Thursday's meeting,
bring your numbers with you.
Remember... this is a FUN activity.
OH... the results will be posted at 10PM CDT Saturday evening
at http://www.b4h.net/fmt/
