[HCARC] BIG RAIN

Water at Verde Creek on Elm Pass Rd (also locally known as Frank KK5IA’s QTH) was over the bridge at some point last night. My 11 inch rain gauge overflowed so I am not totally accurate in my rainfall amount. There is 9 1/2 inches in a trash can and 9 3/4 inches in two 5 gallon buckets, so I will go with 9 5/8 inches. Not sure why the rain gauge overflowed, but come to think of it I might have forgotten to empty it the other day – I was in a hurry.

To put this in perspective @325,851 gallons per acre foot of water, on my 6.89 acres 1,690,000 gallons fell. AMAZING BUT TRUE. That is equal to the amount of water my neighbor and I pump through his well equaling 10 years water usage.

So much rain fell about half way from Center Point to Kerrville off of Hwy 27 that it has completely filled one of the sand and gravel quarries. A new community lake.

My guess is over 9 inches since a couple of new 32 gallon trash cans are about 40% filled with water. They have sloping sides, but it’s still a lot of water. Someone down stream has water in their house tonight. Might be interesting over towards Comfort.
