Too early to talk about Dec 2016 – it will be here sooner than we think – remember most of us are over 60 and time goes faster.

As a club we now own our own stainless flatware (service for about 65 people). Besides being much more pleasant to eat with than plastic it represents one less thing for the Christmas Party Chairwoman to think about. We still however use plastic plates and plastic wine glasses for the fizzy apple juice. It would be nice to come across a catering company or restaurant going out of business and be able to get a great deal on some matching plain white dinner and dessert dishes. If you ever hear of such or run into such please contact Gary Johnson N5BAA and I will try to pick them up. Over a 2-3 year timeframe they would pay for themselves and eating from them is much nicer than from plastic.

This brings us to wine glasses. Purchasing plastic wine glasses each year costs more than the fizzy apple juice – crazy!!!. Most everyone has an odd one or two of the plain clear glass wine glasses hanging around in their cupboards taking up space. If everyone were to find one glass (please don’t go out and buy any) and bring it to the next club meeting we could accumulate enough to use at the Christmas party and also have enough, when added to plates eventually and added to the stainless flatware for club members to borrow if they are going to be holding a large party, wedding or the such.

Thanks in advance and happy new year!!
