Page 13 of the March 2016 QST is an article from ARRL about Special Event Stations.  Well worth the read either in print in a week or two or in the online edition.  One thing they did not stress that I think is important is that most people working a special event station due to to get either a nice certificate or a special QSL card in return.  If we ever run a special event station we should be prepared to do one of the above to reward those who contact us.
