“Hi Gary,
I've added Pecan Island to the USi List, and it's Number TX079, and
I've also added Tranquility Island, and it's number is TX080.
And, I send the following to anyone requesting a new island.
A few words of wisdom for those of you that may be Qualifying an
island for the first time, or not. Adding a island to the list
doesn't Qualify it. Someone has to work from it and they need to make
a minimum of 25 QSOs that includes 2 DXCC Entities. And, on HF only.
We also ask that you don't give out the USinumber for the island until
you have the 25 QSOs and 2 DXCC entities. You can use something like,
"CQ CQ CQ New US Island. Tranquility Island, Texas", or something like
that. Then, once it's Qualified the official number may be given out
something like, "CQ CQ CQ US Island TX080R. Tranquility Island Texas",
or something like that.
Also, let the USi Webmaster know your plans, date, hours of operation,
bands, etc. Send it to Jay (NS4J) at <webmaster at usislands.org>
And, we do work on the honor system. So, once you Qualify the island,
all I need is the following information:
1. A statement that you did Qualify the island, and you can include
the QSO count if you like.
2. The date of the operation.
3. The name of the island.
4. The USi island number.
5. The call used. Only one call for a Qualification, like a 1x1, club
call, personal call.
6. A list of the ops.
Have fun.
