MINUTES AND TREASURERS REPORT

The minutes were posted and approved.

The Treasurers report was read and approved

OLD BUSINESS

Repeater Committee: Chuck Brainard and Harvey Vordenbaum (K5HV) have been working on the repeater. The noise problem has been found to be a loose connector.

Field Day was discussed at the Executive Board Meeting prior to the General Business Meeting and the Executive Board recommended to the Club to hold Field Day on 28/29 June 2014 at the Red Cross Bldg in Kerrville. This is to simulate and prove our ability to communicate in support of the Red Cross. Gary Johnson (N5BAA) did some reconnoitering of the parking lot behind the Red Cross and there appears to be plenty of space to erect the clubs tower trailer and to string dipoles from both the clubs permanent tower and from the trailer tower to tall trees across the parking lot to meet additional antenna requirements. Motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously to hold Field Day at the Red Cross bldg.

NEW BUSINESS

Jim Froemke (K0MHC/rover) gave a presentation on the upcoming Central States VHF Society conference to be held in Austin, TX

Remaining schedule of 2014 programs are as follows:

June – Gary Johnson on Field Day
July – Gary Johnson Field Day Report

BREAK FOR REFRESHMENTS FROM Mort McKenzie (WB2GEU) and Barb and Pete Schuyler (N9NM, N9OF respectively)

The presentation was by Dale Gaudier (K4DG) on building his 80 meter wide band dipole antenna. It was an excellent presentation where Dale showed the steps he went through to finally achieve the proper wide banding of the antenna. Finally Dale will host an antenna build session on Saturday 3 May to construct some antennas for use during Field Day as well as building Dale’s OCF dipole and winding 4:1 baluns.

50/50 was won by Chuck Hopkins.
