Harvey, Terry H, Tony Moore and I spent this morning and early afternoon inventorying and assigning sequential equipment inventory numbers to what we are pretty sure is HCARC owned Equipment at the Red Cross today. These items are listed in the “Equipment Green Book” and on a spreadsheet inventory. Our inventoried item list grew by approx 30-40 (once we complete the inventory at the Repeater and antennas on the RC roof) pieces of equipment. Some of the pieces of equipment have either minimal or no history of where it originally came from, with us depending mostly on Harvey to indicate that such and so person must have donated the gear. Donations as you would expect are greatly appreciated, but please if you do donate equipment attach a sticker to it’s bottom with your name and the date you donated it to the club. If done at a meeting please inform either Harvey or one of the club officers so that we can be sure to properly add it to the inventory to ensure it is cared for in an appropriate manner. Depending on any one person’s memory as to where a particular piece of equipment came from makes keeping an accurate inventory almost impossible. When/if an Emergency Response deployment is needed, we can then utilize a piece of equipment in good conscience knowing we have the right to use it. It would be disastrous to accidently take someone’s equipment to Field Day or to an emergency and have it broken or have it come up missing.
Either Harvey or one of the Club Officers or other Executive Board Member will add it to the inventory and assign it an inventory number so it can easily be accounted for in the future.
We appear to be particularly rich in 2M base rigs, and battery chargers. It appears we are short of some basics like Coax, 6-8 wire rotor cable and headsets/headphones and we haven’t been able to inventory small pieces/parts such as Pl-259 and SO-239 connectors yet, however there are a couple of metal cans and boxes that have a notation on their top as “parts”. We will try to inventory some of them before the next meeting.
