To All-

I picked up the referenced rig this morning and just finished initial checks on it. I’m quite familiar with this rig because it’s the same one that I’m presently using only a bit better. It has optional 2.0 kHz filters in the 2nd (8.2kHz) and 3rd (455 kHz) if circuits.

For those of you not familiar with this rig you might check this link and download the manual under “Files” http://www.yaesu.com/indexVS.cfm?cmd=DisplayProducts&ProdCatID=102&encProdID=ECAF1535E4CB8ECA07D737C0E4BAF3F5&DivisionID=65&isArchived=1

It packs 200 watts output, has an internal tuner, operates LSB, USB, CW, AM, FM, RTTY & Packet Modes. It has two receivers and plenty of knobs to simplify operation.

In addition to the rig and FP-29 power supply, also available are the matching MD-100 Dynamic Desk Mic and SP-8 speaker.

I asked the ham I purchased this from why it was only operated a relatively short period of time. He said that he worked for Dell and soon after he purchased this rig and an Ameritron AL-80B amplifier in 2001 he was transferred to China where he worked for a couple of companies building plants in China until he retired. As a result, before going to China he put the equipment in storage. I looked at the fan on the power supply and observed very little dust. Usually the fan blades accumulate a layer of dust after prolonged operation.

If you’re interested in purchasing this rig, let me know if you want the desk mic and or SP-8 speaker and I’ll provide a price for the package you want.

As a side note, he indicated this rig was modified to operate MARS.

Please contact me off line via my email address or 830-896-9593.

I’m also in the process of pursuing relatively low cost Kenwood HF transceivers for new hams.
