Thanks Mr. Bill. It was just one of those things that caught my eye,
especially after Harvey had just talked about his tower and his 2800.
Sometimes things like this rattle around in my brain and then on a Sunday
Morning they just spill out - hence the question. Someday when I have
graduated from really tiny Pistol-dom and get the uncontrollable urge to dig
a big hole in the ground (I'll build an in ground swimming pool - HAH!!!)
I'll put up a tower big enough to warrant a 2800 and a shock absorber.
Not soon though - at least for the tower, but in the future when the house
is paid off (7 years) and if the economy hasn't tanked I will seriously
think about a pool. It would almost make summers bearable. And I have
enough experience with water chemistry to keep the water clear. In fact
since I do rainwater collection with 28,500 gallons of storage, it would be
neat to fill it with rainwater vs hard well water. I already fill my hot
tub with rainwater - it makes the water chemistry so much simpler when you
don't have to overcome 30+ grains of hardness. The amount of chemicals you
have to put in well water to run a hot tub properly makes it like bathing in
a chemical soup.

Gary and all:
No, I don't have one, although I have had a 2800 for abt 15 years. It's the
best rotator I've ever had. Of course, I don't have a big 4 element 20 or a
40 meter beam, just the 50 ft boom M2 for 6 meters, the 36 ft boom 2 meter
and other assorted VHF and UHF antennas. If I was to have a big 20 meter
beam or a 40 meter beam, I probably would be worried abt the shock and would
have the GA-3000.
My $.02 worth.
73,
Bill, W3XO
