Dale,

If you can get me to comfortably hear and interpret code at 10-15 words per
minute you are truly a magician. Unlike your Tech Class where I was
confidant I could pass with a very high grade, my experiences with foreign
languages is marginal at best. To me CW is a foreign language - but we will
see. I WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO WORK CW.

Subject: [HCARC] CW Class

All:

As I mentioned during the club meeting last night, I am firming up plans to
put on a class on learning CW (Morse code) for club members. There would be
no cost for current club members.

I will have a short introductory class before the next HCARC meeting on
April 3rd, starting at 6:30pm.

The first formal class will begin on Saturday, April 19th, and will be held
at the Kerrville American Red Cross facilities. For the first class I plan
to start around 9am and finish at 11am. Subsequent classes will be about 90
minutes long. I am flexible on the starting times depending on feedback from
interested members. The class on April 26th will start immediately after the
VE session, around 11am.

Also, I know that not everyone will be able to make every session, so I will
run a "make up" session immediately after the regular session for anyone who
has missed a class. So don't let the fact that you might have to miss a
class or two dissuade you from learning code.

There will be approximately 10 classes: in the first six I will teach
letters and numbers; the remaining four classes will cover common
punctuation, prosigns and Q signals, and ending with simulated QSO practice.

Most of the class will be devoted to listening practice, although we will do
some sending practice, too. I will provide some free software you will be
able to use to practice on your own between classes.

The goal of the class is for you to be able to comfortably copy Morse code
at 12-15 words per minute.

If you are interested in attending the class, or have any questions about
the class, please contact me off-list at k4dg at arrl.net.

73,

Dale - K4DG
