Meeting Minutes

6 February 2014

MEETING COMMENCEMENT

The meeting was called to order by President Terry Hipskind (W0HIP) who led us in the Pledge Of Allegiance.  There were 39 people in attendance including 3 visitors.  Visitors included Tony Moore (KG5AAO), Alvin Philabon and Noble Fisk both unlicensed.

MEMBER AND GUEST RECOGNITION

President Hipskind explained the 50/50 and gave out tickets to the following people for having helped during the past months:  Mort McKenzie (WB2GEU) helped with computer issues,  Chuck Brainard helped Gale Heise (KM4DR) with guying Gales news tower, and Jerry Midgely (WA9KXZ) for help on the repeater.


MINUTES AND TREASURERS REPORT

The minutes were read and approved

OLD BUSINESS

Repeater Committee:  Chuck Brainard helped with the guy wires on the repeater.  A motion was made second and passed unanimously to allow Harvey Vordenbaum (K5HV) and the Board of Directors to spend as needed from the Charles Pharris Fund (which is solely for the purposed of Repeater Maintenance) for maintenance of the repeater.  Harvey is to provide an update of expenditures at the next meeting whenever expenditures occur.

VE Committee:  Next Test at the end of Dale Gaudiers Tech Classes in mid April.

Red Cross:  There is a Red Cross Emergency test on 1 March.  

NEW BUSINESS

Gary Johnson reported that additional people were needed in order for Dale Gaudier (K4DG) to hold the Tech Training Classes in March and April.   UPDATE – The Hill Country Preppers Group who meet at Buzzies BBQ at 6 pm on the 3rd Thursday of each month came through again with enough people to sign up for Dale’s Class and it will be held starting 15 march.

Gary Johnson who is taking over from Jeff Lavender (N4YPT) reminded everyone that Field Day is 4 Months out.  We need to start planning very soon to secure a location.

May – 80 meter Wide Band Dipole by Dale Gaudier (K4DG)
June – Gary Johnson on Field Day
July – Gary Johnson Field Day Report
August – Antenna Design

October – nothing scheduled yet
November - nothing scheduled yet
December – Christmas Party

BREAK FOR REFRESHMENTS FROM Mort McKenzie (WB2GEU) and Barb and Pete Schuyler (N9NM, N9OF respectively)

The Presentation was by Bill Tynan (W3XO) on AMSAT Satellites.
