[HCARC] Weather????

The biggest problem is believing the NWS and beginning to fill the
greenhouse with plants to go in the spring garden. Greenhouses
unfortunately are only warm during the day and must be heated at night.
Cold is bad enough to deal with in the greenhouse but a 25 knot wind gusting
to 30 forces the cold air in every crack and crevice. Tomato and squash
plants can't handle temps anywhere near freezing. I'll bet the retail
nurseries are in for a big loss. Was just over at Rainbow Nursery the
other day and they had thousands of tender annuals already. The most
unfortunate thing will be the loss of peaches and in my case apricots. It's
hard enough to get an apricot tree to bloom and then to have the flowers
freeze with a Hard Freeze. Last night at 19 was the third coldest night of
the winter (13 was the coldest at my QTH) during Polar Vortex #1.

I need to move to Panama. Twelve months a year of 70's daytime and 60's
nighttime. Not only good temps in the Chiriqui Highlands but I could be DX
also.

I am afraid that the weather people are totally clueless as to what the next
weeks weather will be in Texas – TOTALLY CLUELESS!! Anything more than the
next 8 hours – clueless. This time on Saturday the NWS was predicting a low
of 30F. It’s 19 at my QTH right now. Missed it by a mere 34% which is no
better than a dart board guess on their part!!!
