Gary,
Well put!Would have loved access and mentoring at the club station.Gale Heise and Bob Riche have been tremendous help and encouragement. Not only while in Kerrville but also while on the road.
I was a very long time member of the U.S. Power Squadron. While the boating population has soared, membership in the Power Squadron has mostly suffered the same issues as HCARC.Also, our membership largely reflects the population age makeup of Kerrville. One of the down sides in living in a retirement area.Besides 2M and 10M a push toward setting up and using Echolink would be rewarding for the new hams. I use it extensively while on the road with great results. I have yet not to be able to make a connection using a Verizon data card with a Wilson Amp and a Cradlepoint router. Even XP still works with it.
