Dennis - Great comment - Show Gary no mercy. What a waste of a K3! Gary is almost as active as K5XA.
Gale - The station I worked had a roof with composition shingles, I guess thats the better description. He had taken the wires from his dipole and pushed them up under the bottom of the shingles. Sounds really great to me.
Gary - Not only do I have the foil backed insulation board, I also have a meta l roof. I don't think it would work, but I don't have to try! My house in Albuquerque was a Territorial style house with stucco walls. Under the stucco is chicken wire. There was a lot of metal in that house. The roof is set about a foot below the top of the walls. the ends of my antennas were on the top of the side walls in one case and actually laying on the roof in the other. The chicken wire didn't seem to be too bad and you couldn't see the wires from the ground.
