Subject: [HCARC] NWS test

NWS, HCARC team,

Want to thank Terry and Harvey in helping during a test last night. Due to
WX, I was called into the NWS. Harvey/Terry was able to connect to the NWS
via the Boerne 145.190 repeater. There was some noise, yet completely
readable signal via the NWS 17-element antenna. Tried the other Boerne
repeater, and could not connect.

This may be the best option to a RF only backup plan to the Kerrville area.
My question: anyone know if this repeater is under backup power??
(does the Kerrville repeater have backup power?)( We have added an UPS for
146.98)
And will the Boerne repeater owner allow us to use?
Just have to contact Kendall Amateur Radio Society.

Another question: can the hams in Fredricksburg connect to the Kerrville
repeater?

They would have to have a pretty good antenna, mobile would be spotty.
HC MEM. HOSP is the best location.

My thought is can we use the Kerrville repeater to pass messages in/out of
Fredricksburg?
That way, Kerrville becomes the HUB that takes in all the surrounding area's
and funnels
traffic to the NWS. Would this be OK to the Kerrville hams?

We can make that work.

Sorry for so many questions,
--eddie

ps: always looking for input and idea's.
