How To Figure Db Gain In Amplifiers??

Premise: Double the power = Gain 3 Db

100 watts to 200 watts = 3db

200 watts to 400 watts = 3 db

400 watts to 800 watts = 3 db

800 watts to 1500 watts = approx 3 db

100 watts to 1500 watts = approx 12 db or approx 2 s units

Question - if I were to go 100 to 500 or 600 watts what is the db increase - I don't think it is proportional i.e 3 db plus 3 db plus 1/3 of another 3 db (for 500 watts) = 7db. That would be too easy and I don't think logs are proportional.

Last question. IF your beam antenna gives you 10 db gain and your amp gives you 7-8 db gain is your total gain then (in a perfect world) 17-18 db??
