Found some interesting listening on 20 meters last night. Apparently daily (or should I say nightly) at 2200 local (10 pm Central time for those of you in Rio Linda - Hats off to Rush) on 14.300 mhz there are a large number of stations from Hawaii, New Zealand, US West Coast, Australia, etc who form a net tracking ships/boats at sea in the Pacific for the benefit of keeping their website updated. Here is the link to their website: http://www.pacseanet.com/
Last night I listened to boats in transit from new Caledonia to Brisbane, Hawaii to Seattle (about to enter the Straits of Juan de Fuca), and going from Oxnard California area to San Diego.
it was a very interesting net and there were surely some strong stations and also since obviously the boats are Maritime Mobile, there was excellent propagation to the South Pacific/Oceania.
