[HCARC] New Sound Card

Hard drive isn't 32 or 64 bit. Size may be impacted by your motherboard limits, unless you install another controller, such as one from Promise Technologies.

Does your computer use IDE or SATA drives? IDE uses the older style 40 pin flat ribbon cable, while SATA uses a much skinnier cable (about 1/2" or less). That factor will impact you the most.

Best Buy sells drives. Walmart sells drives. Amazon.com, Newegg.com, and TigerDirect.com sell them. I never buy refurbished drives.

So since the computer is at least 7 years old and obviously not 64 bit, I have to find a 32 bit Hard drive. I wonder how easy that will be to find?? Another search in the weeds - just what I need.

No, unless you have a 64 bit version of XP. If you have a 32 bit version of XP, you will need to partition the drive, or you will not be able to use the total drive.

The sound card on my table top computer has died - is there a preferred make of sound card that works best with RTTY and PSK31 that I should replace it with??

The hard drive is going on that machine too. Suggestions on what to replace it with would be appreciated. I do notice that Hard Drives in the 1 TB size range are less expensive than last time I replaced one. I also assume (dangerous I know) that most any HD will work with XP and in a standard Tower case.
