To All-

I received a phone call today from Mitchell, a ham who lives near
Sisterdale. I asked him to forward an email to me so that I could pass it
along. Mitch is interested in being able to tie into army bases under
emergency conditions utilizing "ALE". He indicated he had purchased the
Micom 2R made by Motorola and he's looking to pay someone to help him set it
up and learn how to operate it. I told him we had members of MARS and also
members on fire departments who understood emergency communications.

Is anyone familiar with "ALE" linking? I have no clue about "ALE" but
reasoned that possibly a MARS participant may be knowledgeable.

Nice talking with you today Gale! When i googled micom 2r the first thing
that came up was
a color photo and description of the unit. The power cable and cd rom cost
me 784 dollars alone!
This is a motorola radio, sold i believe by royal communications. Now they
have more advanced and
more sophisticated models and do not sell the 2r any longer. My notes
lists a guy named David
at cell phone of 619-518-8883. He sent me the power cable and cd rom I
believe. I also have listed
ameradio.com and a phone of 718 891-3535 but I am not sure if david took
over for them??
www.royal-communications.com is I believe the company david works for.
David's e-mail
may be rci888 at aol.com.
I will research and order any interconnecting cables I need for ic736. I
also have in the garage a
Barker and Williamson spider type antenna that is very long like 40 feet
or so and about 2 feet wide. I remember paying like 900 dollars for it,
but I was not satisfied with the transmit swr across
all bands. It is a military type multi band transmit and receive antenna,
but a guy from kcomm
told me that at my particular man lift area it did not work that well, as
opposed to possibly another
site. I never ended up using it, but I have no use for it. They put them
up i am told at some bases
around san antonio and supposedly worked great for their site and
applications. Barker and Williamson is supposedly high quality. This would
be something else I may could offer up for trade
or exchange for services, networking etc. etc. Thanks so much for your
time!! Looks like you have
a gorgeous place in Kerrville!! 73's Mitch Dullnig cell 830-459-6667.
