[HCARC] Fw: [Moon-Net] [Moon] HAARP creates ionic/plasma cloud toreflect radio signals

Back in the 70's and 80's ITS ran an "ionospheric heater" in Platteville, 
CO.  The "heater" had a lot of antennas pointed straight up.  I believe the 
operating frequency was around 3 MHz, a vibrational frequency of 
molecules/atoms in the upper atmosphere.  As I recall the EIRP was in the MW 
class.  There was a relatively efficient transfer from the MF EM wave to the 
molecules/atoms which created a plasma, exactly what aurora is!  O. G. 
Villard from Stanford was involved in this and was collecting observations 
from hams.  The "artificial aurora" aligned along the geomagnetic field 
lines.  As a result the reflections were such that propagation was possible 
from your location to a line of locations elsewhere.  You couldn't work just 
anybody.  The "heater" was periodically turned off from time to time and the 
signals would drop out.  This helped identify the mode.  The signals had a 
doppler signature similar to auroral reflected signals.  I worked a few 
stations in AZ and southern CA on 6 m CW using this mode.  There was 
absolutely no mystrey about what was going on.  There were a couple articles 
in QST on the subject and I believe the author was O.G Villard, a name every 
ham used to recognize.  I believe he was one of the first 2 or 3 stations 
that got on 20 m SSB in the late 40's.
