[HCARC] Type "N" Connector Questions

Kerry and others,

Is there a particular type of "N" Connector that is best to get, i.e. the "Amphenol" of "N" Connectors?? I also notice that there are clamp on ones and crimp on ones - which is best??

The reason I ask is that I have run into a really good buy on Alpha Delta TransiTrap TT3G50 surge suppressors that have "N" vs UHF (SO-239) connectors. The difference is very signifiant in their cost (both kinds are new stock). The "N" connector versions are $8.30 including shipping each (in a quantity of 10), vs approx $49.00 each plus shipping for ones with SO-239 connectors. There may be extras available from my purchase of the 10, depending on my finding out all the places that they need to be installed in the system. I know they go at the shack end of the Coax run, but where else is a mystery at this point. HOWEVER, that means I have to install "N" connectors on one end of my coax vs PL-259's. I am sure Kerry will be fine with this decision, probably wondering why I don't use all "N" connectors. The other possibility would be to use "N"-SO-239 adaptors, but that seems to be duplication of effort.
