[HCARC] NWS Comm ideas...

Hcarc team,

We've decided to put off the meeting due to field day and your need to
prepare for that.

Like to start up an idea thread - ways we can augment comm between
Kerrville and the NWS.

Some ideas that come to mind:

a separate high gain yagi on a radio that is connected to the repeater
system,
maybe using 2m ssb.  (there are times I can key the repeater using the NWS
17-element beam on 50 watts - although voice seems impossible. at times, i
can
hear the repeater.)

some sort of NVIS system, maybe PSKmail on 30 meters (digital).

maybe something on 6 or 10 meter fm.  (although getting the NWS to fund new
antenna's is impossible right now.)

throw out ideas here --  mostly thinking something other than echolink due
to
internet breaking down in times of real trauma.
