Greetings everyone,
I made a test bed channel on irc.freenode.org
Get XChat IRC Client - http://www.xchat.org
See XChat in action and learn more about it if you need help:
http://xchat.org/faq/
Screenshots to ensure you are not too lost:
http://xchat.org/screenshots/
Server: irc.freenode.net (within XChat scroll down to Freenode)
Channel: ##KerrHams
My Nick: DarkskyAstro
**Note a good nick to register for yourself would most definitely be your
Call Sign!
Please read this info to register and keep your nickname safe, you can
register your nick upon entering the server in the main server window. (be
sure you are not in an actual channel with other users:
http://freenode.net/faq.shtml#nicksetup
You can copy and paste chunks of the commands instead of typing using your
mouse, or use your keyboard "CTRL + C" to copy and "CTRL + V" to paste.
Now please note this is a temporary server, Undernet has a #hamradio
channel that people speak in quite frequently, Freenode does not, but with
the Hill Country Amateur Radio Club having a channel of it's own as I
stated previously, I am quite sure it will help us be available and useful
to a wider range of people and opportunities no matter what server we
finally call home.
Finally,
I set this channel up in order that you, my fellow members can try it out
and see how it might be of use to your everyday communications and Ham
radio pleasure.
Please feel free to contact me if you need help to ensure you have a great
experience with this very cool and very old school form of internet
communications.
