Wonder how that would work with a HSMM- mesh network.

Subject: [HCARC] IRC Chat
Hello everyone,
Since I do not yet have my Ticket and also since I just like to explore
options and tinker, I wanted to know if there was a kerrhams IRC channel?
IRC for those of you whom do not know is "Internet Relay Chat" in it's
simplest form can be used for text chatting or correspondence and allows
multiple people to be in a "channel" so to speak to chat or leave running,
on your computer connected to of course, the internet.
It can run on any OS and even without a window manager, I.E. what you see
in Windows, vs. a command line interface you can have using Linux. So it
uses hardly any resources or bandwidth and is quite easy to even operate on
an old pc 386 system running a base Linux install (or windows 3.1 if you
still have a copy! hehe).
I felt this would open up communications within the club and also allow
those who need to get help because thier rig(s) may be down or as an
"Elmer" outreach place!
For people such as myself once again who do not yet have a ticket, this
provides a great way to communicate with the rest of the members or any
participants to chat about anything or Ham Radio.
It also can provide a great way to do community outreach in that if
Kerrhams has an IRC channel, once again people can come by and ask
questions or interact and find out generally anything about Ham Radio or
our region's efforts in how Hams help the public in a realtime conversation
(if people are active in the channel).
Files can be shared, and private communications can also be initiated.
Overall I cannot see how this could be a bad thing.
Finally, the kerrhams.org can have a chat room with a login right off the
website, which once again provides a means of communication or a network
for many people.
I can get with other guys whom are interested and help setup a "net" of
sorts, choosing an IRC server that is safe and secure. (I have an IRC
Server I can use from friends from my Computer Security Days). Elsewise,
Undernet, Freenode, servers such as those would be just fine.
Please reply either here or in private, The more ways to communicate the
better.
